Yoga for scoliosis: a 25-minute even, both-sides sequence
A 25-minute yoga session for teenagers and adults with scoliosis, done evenly on both sides. It won't straighten a curve, but it keeps your back and trunk strong and your hips flexible, which the NHS and scoliosis charities encourage. Expect the two sides to feel different, don't force symmetry or end range, and follow your specialist's advice if you wear a brace or have had surgery.

Tips
- Same number, same hold, same range on each side, unless a scoliosis specialist gives you a one-sided programme.
- Your poses will look different on each side; that's the shape of your spine, not a fault.
- Strength and control matter more than flexibility, so never force a twist, side bend or backbend.
- In a brace, ask your team whether to do the session in or out of it; sport and exercise are encouraged during bracing.
- After a spinal fusion, start only when your surgeon agrees, keep twists tiny, and let your hips do more of the bending.
- Stop any pose that brings on pain, tingling or numbness, and see a GP if a curve seems to be getting worse while a child is still growing.
The doses are suggested starting points, not a prescription. Choose a range you can control and stop for sharp or increasing pain, numbness or tingling. Get individual advice after an injury or surgery, or if you are pregnant or managing a health condition.
