How to move
- From a hang in a false grip, pull the rings down your midline until they reach your sternum, then drive your chest forward and over your hands so you catch deep in the bottom of a dip, shoulders sinking between the rings, and press out to a straight arm support.
Practice and cautions
3 to 5 sets of 1 to 2 attempts on fresh arms, and practise the transition on low rings on separate days.
The deep catch loads the shoulder at end range and the false grip loads the elbow and wrist throughout. Kipping through the transition before you own the strict pieces is a well worn route to shoulder and elbow injury.
