How to move
- Lying on your back, press a kettlebell or dumbbell to a straight arm and keep it locked overhead while you stand up in stages, onto the elbow, the hand, into a kneeling position, then upright, and then reverse every stage back to the floor. Your eyes stay on the weight for most of the journey.
Practice and cautions
3 to 5 single reps per side, done slowly and fresh, never to fatigue.
Decide the bail before you lift: if the arm bends or wavers, steer the weight away from your body and let it fall while you move the other way, never toward your face, and never try to catch it. Sloppy, tired get-ups are how the weight ends up somewhere it should not be.
