How to move
- Hold a barbell at your collarbones as if to press, then dip a few inches by bending your knees while keeping your torso vertical. Drive up hard with your legs and use that momentum to punch the bar to a locked-out position overhead, then lower it back to your shoulders.
Practice and cautions
3 to 5 sets of 3 to 5 reps, leaving 1 to 2 reps in reserve, resting fully between sets.
Missed reps come down fast: keep your face out of the bar path, and if the bar stalls in front of your head, push it forward and step back rather than fighting it. The dip must stay vertical; turning it into a forward lean sends the bar out front and the strain into your lower back.
