How to move
- Set the seat so the handles line up with the middle of your chest, sit with your shoulder blades against the backrest, and press the handles away until your arms are almost straight. Lower them back with control until your hands are roughly level with your chest.
Practice and cautions
3 to 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps, leaving 1 to 2 reps in reserve.
If the machine has a foot lever, use it to bring the handles forward so you are not wrenching your shoulders into a deep stretch just to reach the start position. Keep your shoulders back against the pad as you press, and set the range limiter, where fitted, so the bottom of the rep feels like a comfortable stretch.
