How to move
- Hinge forward at the hips until your torso approaches horizontal, with a light dumbbell hanging from each hand. With elbows slightly bent, raise both arms out to the sides until they are level with your back, squeeze your shoulder blades together, then lower slowly.
Practice and cautions
2 to 4 sets of 12 to 20 reps with a genuinely light weight, leaving a couple of reps in reserve.
The give-away cheat is standing up and swinging as the set gets hard; the weight that lets you stay hinged and move only your arms is smaller than pride prefers. When the hinge fails, the set is over, and chest support on a bench removes the problem entirely.
