How to move
- Sitting balanced just behind your sit bones, you lift the legs, shins parallel to the floor or straight for the full pose, and reach the arms forward, keeping the spine long rather than rounded. The shape is a V held against gravity.
Practice and cautions
Hold 20 to 30 seconds, 3 rounds; bend the knees the moment the low back starts to round.
Bend the knees or hold behind the thighs if the low back rounds or the hip flexors cramp. Avoid it in pregnancy and after recent abdominal surgery, and put a folded blanket under a sore tailbone.
