How to move
- Sit into the machine with your back and hips flat against the pads and your whole feet about shoulder width apart on the platform. Release the safety handles, lower the platform until your knees approach a right angle, then press it back, stopping just short of straight legs.
Practice and cautions
3 to 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps, leaving about 2 reps in reserve.
Never snap your knees into a hard lockout at the top, and stop the descent as soon as your pelvis starts to tuck and your lower back peels off the pad. Keep your whole foot on the platform with dry soles; a foot slipping off under load is the accident to design out. Find the safety catches before your first heavy set.
