How to move
- Lie on your back with knees bent and feet down. Rest your arms comfortably beside you.
- Lift one ankle onto the opposite thigh, above the knee. Keep the supporting foot down and let the crossed hip open gently.
- Lift the ankle clear of the thigh, then place the foot back down with control.
Form cues
- Rest the ankle above the knee joint.
- Never push down on the crossed knee.
- Keep the head and shoulders relaxed.
Practice and cautions
The 12-second animation explains the movement. It is not a recommended hold time, repetition count, or treatment plan.
Avoid knee pressure. Follow your clinician’s restrictions after hip surgery; this position is not suitable for everyone.
